The Abia State House of Assembly has passed into law H.A.B 16: The Abia State Roads Funds and Administration Bill, 2024 and H.A.B 17: The Abia
State Rural Access Roads Agency Bill, 2024.
The Passage of the two Bills followed the completion of their Considerations at the Committee of the whole and third readings at plenary.
Announcing the passage at plenary, the Speaker, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa who congratulated his colleagues for their contributions in achieving the feat, added that H.A.B 16 and H.A.B 17 when accented to by the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, would be deemed to have come into force on the 29th and 30th October, 2024 respectively.
According to the Speaker, the Bills would help in ensuring that Abians residing in the rural areas enjoy quality and accessible road network like their counterparts who reside in Urban areas.
He further encourage Abians to come out in their numbers and participate actively this Saturday in the November 2nd 2024 council polls in the state.
The Speaker also stressed the need for all to conduct themselves peacefully and orderly as they file out to vote for candidates of their choice, and expressed optimism that the elections would be free and fair.
