The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu has restated government’s dedication to empowering Abia residents with Skills and opportunities necessary to thrive in Modern Economy.
Chief Emetu who stated this while declaring open the Abia State Government Inaugural Human Capital development Workshop held at the International Conference Center, Umuaha said the workshop focuses on Critical areas of Health, Nutrition, Education, Labour Forces participation, social and gender empowerment.
He noted that the event not only represents an investment in the state’s future but also a demonstration of the present administration’s “unwavering commitment to empowering every Abian to reach their fullest potential”.
The Deputy Governor disclosed that Abia State is among the fourteen states selected for the Federal Government-supported Human Capital Development Programme, that aims at enhancing citizens’ skills and capabilities through targeted investments in education, vocational training, and economic empowerment.
He further said that the Programme is based on main pillars of development including; quality education, vocational training, economic empowerment, and labour force participation in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Chief Emetu lauded Governor Otti for demonstrating strong political leadership and commitment to accelerate poverty alleviation, skills training and employment opportunities for the general quality of life of Abians.
In her speech, the Chairman, Civil Service Commission and State Focal Person, Human Capital Development Council, Pastor Dr Eno Jerry-Eze, said the programme is a shared commitment to invest in Abia citizens and lauded for making significant strides in advancing good governance and creating frameworks that prioritize the well-being and growth of its people.
Pastor Eno Jerry described the workshop as a testament to the collective resolve of collaborating across sectors to build a more inclusive and resilient Human Capital Development model for the State and encouraged the participants to be committed to the workshop and contribute meaningfully to the project.
