The Cathedral Administrator, Mater Dei Cathedral Parish Umuahia, the Rev. Fr. Anthony Etunwoke has admonished Christians to embrace the act of giving to God and man with a willing heart so as to receive the expected blessings from God.
Fr. Etunwoke who gave the admonition at the 2024 Annual harvest thanksgiving and bazaar of the parish tagged “Harvest of Divine Mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ”, identified the spirit with which one gives as important and charged all be cheerful and intentional in doing so as God is the ultimate giver and rewarder of all.
He highlighted the need for generosity and gratitude in the life of a child of God in appreciation of God’s love and to attract his divine mercy and reward.
Speaking, the Chairman on the occasion and Acting Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, Comrade Francis Nwaubani represented by the immediate Past Chairman of the State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Victor Ndukwe while identifying thanksgiving to God as the duty of man, said the BCA will not relent on efforts in partnering the church for a better society and lauded the Church for their contributions in shaping the society and setting aside such a day annually for such.
In their contributions, the Parish Council Chairman, Mater Dei Cathedral Parish Umuahia, Prof. Ralph Iheke and the Chairman of the 2024 annual harvest of the Parish, Mr Ronald Uzochukwu described the event as an annual ritual to appreciate God for his mercies throughout the year and for bountiful harvest as the year comes to an end, thanked all especially their guests for identifying with them and prayed God to bless them.
Highlights of the Thanksgiving mass were the presentation of gift items by the faithful to the church and the needy and special prayers for all.
