The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has condoled with the Lead Pastor of Dominion City Umuahia, Rev. Ugochukwu Dimkpa, over the death of his father, Rev. Dr. James Dimkpa Echendu.
In his condolence message during a funeral service conducted by the Everlasting Truth Gospel Assembly at the Health Centre Field, Avo Village, Mgboko-Orioefula, in Obingwa LGA, Governor Otti described death as a necessary end for all mortals.
The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, described the deceased, Rev. James Dimkpa Echendu, as an accomplished gentleman and one whom God used to do exploits in his family, ministry, and society at large.
The State Chief Executive further enjoined the Dimkpa family and all those affected by the incident to be strong and courageous, and prayed that God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“I urge the people of Obingwa and Avo not to mourn as those without hope, for the late Rev. Dr. James Dimkpa Echendu lived a life worthy of emulation.
“Let this be one thing you take home with you today: that at the end of your sojourn on earth, what you will be remembered for is what matters most.
“Today, our father has finished his work on earth, and it is time for him to go and give an account of his stewardship. Always bear in mind that at the end of your stewardship, there is something called accountability,” he said.
In his tribute, the first son of the deceased and Lead Pastor of Dominion City Umuahia, Rev. Ugochukwu Dimkpa, disclosed that they are not mourning as those without hope, but rather celebrating the fulfilled and exceptional life of a great disciplinarian, teacher, and lover of God.
Rev. Dimkpa thanked his family, Governor Otti, the church, and all those who came to identify with them and promised that they will continue to uphold his late father’s sterling qualities.
Aged 94, the late Rev. Dr. James Dimkpa Echendu is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.

Maxwell Nwadike, immediate past Mayor of Obingwa LGA, Dr Eric Egwuibe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr. Kene Nwosu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Dr. George Chidozie, Technical Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Charles Egonye, Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism and Entertainment, Mr. Justice Martins, top government officials, the clergy, traditional rulers, among other notable personalities.
