Reports reaching our news desk say many filling stations in Aba have started selling petrol from One thousand, one hundred Naira and one thousand one hundred and fifty Naira.

Our Aba News crew who monitored both the fuel and transportation situations in the commercial nerve center of the state said, despite the reduction in the pump prices of petrol, some commercial motorists have not adjusted their transportation fares, thereby making things more difficult for the people.

The report also has it that transportation fares from Umuahia which used to be ₦800-₦1000 by the commercial buses is now ₦1500 while from Aba main park to Owerri is now ₦2000 instead of ₦1000 and Aba to Nnewi is ₦5,500 as against the₦4500.

Also tricycle operators now charge between ₦300-₦400 from Osisioma junction to Aba Main Park as against ₦200-₦250 previously charged.

According to reports, Aba main park to Union Bank Junction has increased from ₦250-₦300 as against ₦150-₦200 previously charged while Aba main park to Owerri is now ₦2000 as against ₦1000- ₦1500.

In an interview, some commercial and Tricycle Operators including Mr Otu Madu, Ebuka Chukwuemeka and Mr Christian Dike said they now spend more than ₦30,000 on daily basis due to the frequent increase in the pump prices of fuel noting that before they used to fill their fuel tank between ₦10,000-₦15000 daily, lamenting that it has severely affected their transport business.

They however appealed to the Federal Government to come to their plight to make life bearable for the common people in society.

In their own remarks, some of the Aba residents including Chief Samuel Egbulefu, Mrs. Uchechi Adiele and Mr Uzoma Nzubechukwu appealed to the Motor Unions to help reduce their transportation fares especially now that many filling stations in Aba have reduced the Pump Prices of their petrol to reduce the suffering of the masses.
