Ndi Igbo have been called upon to embrace each other as well as make peace and stability their top priority.
The National President, University of Nigeria Alumni Association, Dr Mrs Doris Okoroh who made the call in Umuahia during the Founder’s and Cultural Day Celebration, Organized by the University of Nigeria Alumni Association, Umuahia Branch, reiterated the need for all Universities, Primary and Secondary Schools in South East to always organize Cultural exhibition, as it will help the younger ones to know their heritage.
Dr Okoroh pointed out that the University of Nigeria which was founded by the Late Dr Nnamdi Azikwe was founded to internalize the development and unity of Nigeria and called on Nigerians to make love their bedrock.
Responding, a Former Secretary to the State Government, Dr Eme Okoro described the University as well as respected institution that is bounded by excellence and integrity.
In his message, a Former First Deputy Chairman, Abia State Traditional Rulers Council and Patron of the Alumni, Eze Dr Nzewanta Mbakwe congratulated them and called on them to sustain the dignity and integrity of the University which he described as excellent .
In his remarks, The State Chairman, the University of Nigeria Alumni Association of Nigeria, Umuahia Chapter, Prince Larry Chukwu noted that the essence of the program is to restore the dignity of Igbo Land as well as sustain the love and unity biding Ndi Igbo and assured that they will do the best to secure the Igbo cultural heritage.
Contributing, Professor Ejitu Otah of the Department of History and International Relations of Abia State University who lectured on Restore the Dignity of Man: A Dialectical Deconstruction of Igbophobia in Nigeria, called for synergy between all the geopolitical zones in Nigeria, adding that the 1968 war was fought against Ndi Igbo and encouraged Nigerians to always understand each other.
