The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Pricilla Otti has called on Security Agents and Non-Governmental Organizations to join her office in the fights against Child trafficking and gender based violence in the state.
Mrs. Otti made the call when she paid a courtesy and advocacy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danladi Isa at the Police Headquarter, Umuahia as part of activities in commemoration of the 16 days of Activism and Gender Based Violence.
The Wife of the Governor lauded the critical role of Police officers as frontline defenders of the citizens and underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration with the Command to address gender based violence.
She called for the establishment of a dedicated gender-based violence desk equipped with the necessary tools staffed with trained facilitators and promised to work in partnership with community stakeholders to tackle gender related issues effectively.
In his speech, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danladi Isa assured the Wife of the Governor of their full commitment in improving the Command’s services in the fight against gender based violence and child abuse.
Mr. Isa further added that the ultimate goal of the Command is to create a safe and secured environment for all and appreciated the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti for carrying everyone along in governance as well as his developmental strides across the state.
