The Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association, Aba Branch, Mazi Oliver Okolo, has appealed to the Federal Government to rehabilitate the long-moribund NNPC Depot in Osisioma Ngwa to alleviate the suffering of people in the South East zone.
Mazi Okolo, reacting to the reopening of the Port Harcourt refinery, stated that the non-functional NNPC Osisioma Depot has displaced over two thousand South Easterners from their jobs, while crippling economic activities in the area for years.
He described the reopening of the Port Harcourt refinery as a step in the right direction, as it will help ease the struggles of marketers in sourcing petroleum products.
The Chairman also appealed to Governor Dr. Alex Otti to urge the contractor handling the Osisioma Ngwa-Ekeakpara road to expedite rehabilitation work. He also expressed gratitude for the award of the contract to rehabilitate the federal road network connecting the NNPC Depot in Osisioma Ngwa.
While expressing his joy that petroleum products have reached the NNPC tanks in Port Harcourt, Mazi Okolo lamented the uneven distribution of these products.
He advised NNPC officials to ensure an even distribution of petroleum products to facilitate easy circulation to filling stations across the geopolitical zones.
