The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has assured Abians that there is no controversy over the siting of the proposed Abia airport in Nsulu land by the indigenes.
Pastor Ajagba, who gave the assurance at Government House Umuahia while addressing newsmen during an enlarged meeting with the youth leaders and village heads of the host communities of the proposed Abia airport, described the project as a welcome development.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor explained that clearing of traces commenced last week from Umuomainta Nbawsi, and upon completion, the real landowners will be identified for enumeration and payment of compensation, which has been a major hallmark of the Dr. Alex Otti-led administration.
He noted that the engagement with the host communities was necessary to enlighten them that nobody is there to destroy their source of livelihood but to ensure that government projects are implemented for the benefit of all, and promised to intensify the community engagement to ensure that everyone is carried along.
Pastor Ajagba further commended Governor Alex Otti for his unequaled magnanimity in making sure that every part of the state is given a sense of belonging, as well as for his commitment and determination in launching Abia into another phase of prosperity.
In his speech, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Housing and coordinator of the Abia Airport Project, Pastor Okorougo Aji, explained that the proposed first Abia airport, which is to be sited in Nsulu land, once realized, will help reinvigorate economic activities in the area and the state at large. He warned the people against the antics of political detractors who are bent on denying them what will redefine their lives and future.
Responding, some of the community heads and youth leaders, including Dr. Jessy Odu from Agburuike Nsulu, Mr. Victor Nwabia from Mbubo Nsulu, Elder Nnaa Paul from Ubah Nsulu, and Mr. Kingsley Ukaegbu from Umulenwa Nsulu, among others, thanked Governor Alex Otti for his decision to site the first Abia airport in Nsulu land and assured him of their unalloyed support towards the actualization of the project.
