The Abia State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Mr. Akinsola Aderemi has commended the Acting Controller, Federal Fire Service, Abia State Command, Mrs.Juliet Onyendi for the good works her command is doing to checkmate fire outbreaks in the country.
Mr. Aderemi who made the commendation when he played host to the Controller in company of her Management Team during a courtesy visit to his office, expressed commitment to fostering a stronger working relationship with the two Agencies.
He noted that the visit will mark the beginning of a new era of co-operation and collaboration between the two organisations with a shared focus of enhancing the safety and security of lives and property within the state.
The Commandant made it clear that the core mandate of his organization includes combating disasters such as fire outbreaks and other emergencies and disclosed that his Command has a dedicated Disaster Management Unit whose responsibility is to address critical issues.
He pointed out that it is imperative to emphasize the importance of exercising caution and restraint in society as the festive season approaches and warned that indiscriminate bush burning and use of crackers, can lead to fire outbreaks.
In her remarks earlier, the Acting Controller, Federal fire service, Mrs Juliet Onyendi said the aim of her visit was to familiarize and strengthen their inter-agency collaboration and reiterated the importance of collaboration between the two Agencies in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
She emphasized the need for mutual support and sensitization to combat fire outbreaks especially during the dry season and appreciated the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for the warm reception accorded them.
