The Chairman of the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Budget and Planning and Member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Chief Mathias Umeh has extolled Governor Alex Otti for tackling insecurity challenges that ravaged Umunneochi Local Government Area prior to his assumption of office.

Chief Umeh who made the commendation while featuring on BCA live Igbo Audience participatory programme (Ka m Kwuo), described security as the basis for the sustenance of good governance, noting that Governor Otti’s pragmatic approach in addressing issues head-on remains one of his major selling points.

On the 2024 budget and the 2025 appropriation bill, the state lawmaker said the legislators through the joint committee have worked hard to ensure quality implementation as well as equitable distribution of resources allocated for projects and programmes in different sectors through the Ministries, Departments and Agencies by the executive for 2024.

Chief Umeh also commended Governor Otti for his massive developmental projects which cut across various sectors that are critical to the development of the state and welfare of the people including road Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare and Security.

He expressed optimism that the 2025 appropriation bill when passed into law will be a consolidation on the achievements made so far by the present administration in the state.

Speaking on his personal achievements so far, Chief Umeh explained that he spearheaded the restoration of security and rehabilitation of failed roads in Umunneochi through motions disclosing that he has a number of bills which are currently in different stages of passage.

He said that he set up a committee which judiciously utilized his constituency fund approved by the Governor for the renovation of Nneato secondary school which is now ready for commissioning as well as granting scholarships to students and grants to people from his constituency.

The Lawmaker promised to take up the bills for WAEC and registration of students from Umunneochi Local government area next year, and thanked the Governor for the rebuilding of the Lokpanta cattle market and other projects in the area affirming that the gesture has endeared the Governor much more to the people of Umunneochi.
