A Non-Governmental Organization, Connak Foundation has commissioned Solar Street Lights and High Solar Panel Adapter that will power the bore hole facility and supply power to the School for the Blind Afara, Umuahia, Abia State.
Speaking while Commissioning the Project, a Representative of the Connak Foundation, Sir Ifeanyi Nnajiofor said the essence of the donation was to support the School and ensure the students learn in a conducive environment.
Sir Nnajiofor said the Foundation also donated food items , machine equipment, routine and supplement drugs to the School and fumigated round the school to celebrate Christmas with the children, adding that the gesture is also in line with the vision of Connak Foundation to empower the people especially the vulnerable and creates opportunities in Society.
The Connak Foundation representative, who described education as a cornerstone for sustainable development also commended the teachers for their assistance and support to the education needs of the children and prayed God to bless them.
In her Address, the Principal, School for the Blind Afara,Mrs Bernadette Nnenna Onyeogaziri who recalled when delegates from Connak Foundation visited the school to inquire some of their pressing needs and thanked God that the visit has yielded positive results.
Mrs. Onyeogaziri further commended the Governor Dr Alex Otti,Connak Foundation among other groups and individuals for their sustained support to the school and assured that they will continue to take good care of the children .
In their remarks the State Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, Mr. Wisdom Okechukwu Kanu, Information Officer of the School, Mr Eze Urasi and Mark Adiele thanked Connak Foundation for the donation and promised to put into good use the items donated to them
Items donated to the School for the Blind Afara by Connak Foundation are Tubes of Yam, Cartons of noodles, bags of rice, groundnut oil, bag of beans, cartons of tomatoes, cartons of routine or supplementary drugs, Mower machine, 50 plastic chairs, one deep freezer and bag of garri.
