Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti says the unprecedented infrastructure scattered across the State is a way of appreciating Abians for their support and resilience to his administration.
Governor Otti who disclosed this while commissioning the Omuma – Cemetery road phase two in Aba explained that the first phase was commissioned within his one hundred days in Office due to the economic and social value of the road that has many residential buildings and the famous beverages market.
He regretted the untold hardship the people of the area have been subjected to for over twenty years, noting that restoring the Aba Sub-Urban infrastructure will redefine the city as a business destination, job center for skilled and non-skilled workers as well as a land of great dreams for entrepreneurs.
Governor Otti who observed the metropolitan status of Aba due to the presence of some Social Clubs vowed to respond to the aesthetic needs of the Commercial city which will improve the local business and arouse the interest of foreign investors.
The State Chief Executive assured the people of the area that his administration will address the problem of power outage, and warned them to desist from any unfriendly activity on the road, fulfill their civic obligations while thanking the Commissioner for Works for deploying his expertise towards realizing the infrastructural vision.
In his address, the Abia State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Otti said that the Cemetery road was deplorable to the level that many lost their shops and means of livelihood noting that the road built with drainage systems and solar Street Lights has revived activities of the area and advised the residents to protect the road from any form of abuse.
Contributing, the Contractor, Mr Chris Soroibe appreciated Governor Otti for recognizing the importance of the road to the people noting that the residents co-operated with them during the time of reconstruction as a way of showing gratitude.
In their separate remarks, a former member of House of Representatives, Chief Chimaobi Ebisike, the member representing Aba Central in the State House of Assembly, Chief Stephen Ucheonye, the Mayor Aba South Local Government Area, Chief Obialor Anyanwu and a representative of the Omuma road and Environs, Mr Anthony who were overwhelmed with joy recalled the loss of lives and resources the deplorable road had caused them, stressing that every sector in the State is receiving greater attention under the present administration.
