Men of the Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, Nsulu Zone, have apprehended a member of a notorious criminal syndicate that specializes in vandalizing high-tension wires.

The officers who were on guard at the early hours of today, apprehended one of the criminals while the other two, escaped with their tricycle.

Narrating the incident to newsmen, the Nsulu Commander of Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, K. C Martins stated that the suspect, simply identified as Samuel from Ebonyi State, was caught by his officers in the early hours of today while vandalizing high-tension wires along the Isicourt-Ikputu road.

According to him, the other two members of the gang fled the scene with their tricycle, leaving behind their loot.

Commander Martins while reiterating the unwavering commitment of the Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante to rid rural communities across Abia State of criminal elements, also emphasized that these efforts align with the vision of the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti to ensure the protection of lives and property.

Commander Martins assured that the officers will not rest until the remaining criminals are apprehended.

Reacting to the incident, the State Commander, Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme applauded the sustained gallant efforts of the men of the ACPV in the fight against crime and criminality in the rural communities.

He also used the opportunity to caution the youths against engaging in criminal activities and the “get-rich-quick” mentality, especially as the festive season approaches, adding that anyone caught will be made to face the full weight of the law.
