The Delta State Police Command has detained a young woman for allegedly discarding her 10-month-old baby into a river.
This was confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who issued a statement to the press in Warri.
According to SP Edafe, “This is a case where a woman threw her 10-month-old baby into the river.”
He further explained, “When I questioned her about her actions, she claimed that her friends and other women had been mocking and shaming her, saying the child lacked a father, which led her to take such a drastic step.”
While acknowledging the woman’s explanation, SP Edafe emphasized, “This is not a valid excuse for her actions, but we must also consider the impact of our words on others.”
