The Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti has called on Abians irrespective of their location to be part of the ongoing transformation Agenda of the present Administration.

In his welcome address, Governor Otti represented by the Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba who stated this during the programme “Abians in Diaspora Home coming”, organized by the state Diaspora commission in partnership with the state government held at the international conference center maintained that his vision is to take the state to higher levels.

The Governor expressed the hope that the programme which according to him will afford Abians in Diaspora the opportunity to make positive contributions in their areas of interest including, Education, ICT among others for the sustainability of the Abia dream.

He pointed out that getting the state right will reduce the level of dependency and make life expectancy, standard of living among others comparable with what is obtainable in developed societies.

In his keynote speech tilted: “Bringing Abia to the World, and the World to Abia” the state chairman Abia Diaspora Commission, Mr. Okey Agbara said the essence of the two day program is for Abians in Diaspora to identify ways of partnering government as well as attract foreign investors for more development.

He described Governor Alex Otti as a visionary leader who is fully prepared to develop the state.
According to him, the Commission has attracted Abia young professionals city hub and has through the Federal Government Initiative attracted a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) to create vehicles that will run on CNG and also provide 24hours Power Supply for some areas within the Capital City.

Contributing, a member of the State Diaspora Commission, Ambassador Rev Annie Onu pointed out that the commission in the state has held a workshop on :,”listening skills” and also rescued miss Annabella Chisom Kenneth from Senegal back to Nigeria.

Speaking the Board Director Nido Africa, Chief Isaac Chigbata described the event as one in the right direction and lauded Governor Alex Otti for his developmental strides especially the flag off of the Abia Airport and urged him to continue with his good works in the state.

He urged Abians in Diaspora to come home and invest.

The event featured presentation of business investments by Abians in Diaspora, testimonies from beneficiaries of Diaspora initiatives, cultural display among others.
