The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has signed into law the total sum of Seven Hundred and Fifty Billion, Two Hundred and Eighty-Two Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (750, 282, 200, 000) only for the services of the Abia state government in the 2025 fiscal year.

The State Chief Executive noted that the budget is a budget of sustained momentum, and explained that his push for infrastructural development is clearly demonstrated in the budget as it allocated over eighty percent to capital expenditure.
The Governor further said that about eighty-two percent of the total envelope was dedicated to capital expenditure and a meagre eighteen percent to recurrent expenditure in spite of the challenges of higher wages occasioned by the implementation of the new national minimum wage and regular payment of pensions.
He assured that some of the projects that were kicked off in 2023 would be delivered in 2025 including Port Harcourt road Aba, Umuahia – Uzuakoli -Abiriba – Ohafia road, the Ohafia – Arochukwu to the boundary in Ini, the Okobo -Abam- road, the Omenuko bridge, Nunya road among other roads that have been awarded.
Presenting the budget to the Governor earlier, the speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa described the budget as an aggressive one, pointing out that with the budget, Abia would continue to grow from strength to strength.
While assuring that the lawmakers would continue to work with the executive arm of government to see the state progresses further, the Speaker said Governor Otti has truly demonstrated in practical terms his preparedness to rebuilding the state.
