The Abia State government has banned the burning of Tires for the new year celebration.
The State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu who disclosed this while featuring in a BCA Radio programme “Executive Brief” said the ban became necessary because of its destruction of constructed roads as well as environmental pollution.
Prince Kanu advised Abians to look for a better way of celebrating the new year and avoid acts that are hazardous to the environment.
He revealed that the state government has rejigged the security architecture of the State to adequately secure the lives and property of Abians pointing out that there has not been any security breach throughout the Christmas celebration.
The Information Boss assured that Abia will continue to get better in 2025 and wished Abians a prosperous new year.
