Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has commissioned a three bedroom bungalow built and furnished by the Founder, Ogechi Cares Foundation, Chief Jerry Uzosike for Mrs. Abigail Nwosu Ocha of Eluama Na Mgbedeala Umunwanwa Autonomous Community in Umuahia South Local Government Area.
Speaking during the Commissioning Ceremony which also Coincided with the 5th Anniversary of the Foundation, Governor Otti commended Chief Jerry Uzosike for initiating the foundation to support the vulnerable, Youths and Women empowerment, pointing out that the humanitarian initiative is in line with his administration’s agenda.
The Governor represented by his Special Adviser on Policies and Interventions, the Rev. Father Christian Anokwuru said his administration has earmarked ₦18.9 billion to support Vulnerable Individuals in the state and promised to support the efforts of the Founder of Ogechi Cares Foundation through Abia CSDA to enhance her humanitarian service to the people.
In his Speech, the Mayor of Umuahia South Local Government Area, Mr. Chinedum Enwereuzo extolled Chief Jerry Uzosike for his selfless services to the people and enjoined him to sustain the tempo.
In his Address, the Grand Commander of Ogechi Cares Foundation, Chief Jerry Uzosike said that the dream of his humanitarian service started during his school days, adding that the foundation has built 8 bungalows to the vulnerable and downtrodden across the Council, empowered so many Youths and women, through skills acquisition, scholarship among other social amenities to enhance their living standards and solicited the support of good spirited individuals in the area.
Chief Uzosike who is also a Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission said that what the foundation is doing is to support the humanitarian services of the Governor in the state adding that the recipient of Ogechi care foundation awards was in recognition of their support to the foundation and humanity.
Responding on behalf of the Nwanwa family of the benefactor of the three bedroom bungalow, Mrs. Uloma Ukandu and Sir Nwosu Ocha described Chief Uzosike as a man of his word and commended him for his benevolence to the family.
Our Correspondent reports that the event featured awards presentation to deserving individuals for their sacrifices and support to the foundation and official opening of a skill acquisition training program sponsored by NKU GLOBAL FOUNDATION by the Mayor Umuahia South Local Government Area, Mr. Chinedum Enwereuzo in company of the Governor’s representative.
