The Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti has commended the people of Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North LGA for their commitment and sincerity of purpose in making sure they identify with the Plans and purposes of his administration in making sure that projects especially the airport project kickstarted are completed on schedule.

Governor Otti who made the commendation at Government House Umuahia, during an enlarged meeting with Nsulu Airport Communities Landowners Forum, said the meeting is necessary in order to carry the landowners along in respect to the actualization of the Abia Airport project.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his magnanimity in making sure that the airport is brought to Abia, adding that lots of sacrifice is expected from the host communities and major stakeholders towards the timely realization of the project.

The State Chief Executive used the opportunity to seek for stronger collaboration with the host communities to ensure that work continues unabated on the space earmarked for the airport project, and reassured that upper hand will be given to Abians especially Nsulu indigenes in the area of employment and other considerations.

Speaking on behalf of representatives of the host communities for the airport project, a former member that represented Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Chief Uzo Azubuike who expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, advised those whom he described as intruders to stay clear from the project to enable government identify the real land owners for enumeration and payment of adequate compensation.

Chief Azubuike also pleaded with the state government to consider reducing the size of the land mass already earmarked for the airport project for the continued survival of members of the communities who are predominantly farmers and pledged their total support towards the realization of the project.

Our correspondent reports that the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Chaka Chukwumerije, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Housing and coordinator of the Abia Airport project, Pastor Okorougo Aji, consultants and management of the ministry of Lands and Housing were present during the meeting.
