UMUAHIA – Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has sworn-in Edo-born Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the State’s new Head of Service.

Mr. Ojeikere who was a Youth Corps Member from Edo State posted to Abia State in 1999/2000 and from sheer hard work, emerged as the best Corps member and was given automatic employment in the State Civil Service.
Mr. Ojeikere was appointed a permanent secretary in 2023 under the administration of Governor Otti and emerged as the best in the selection process for the Head of Service of the State and was appointed to the position on merit and competence.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Otti congratulated Mr. Ojeikere for emerging the best in the selection process and challenged him to transform the State Civil Service into an effective and efficient workforce.
Responding, the State new Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere thanked Governor Alex Otti for the rare and unusual opportunity given to him to serve as the State’s Number one Civil Servant.
Mr Ojeikere promised to work with the state Government to reposition the State Civil Service and make it a model that other States within and outside Nigeria will come to learn from.
Mr. Benson Ojeikere who until his elevation was the Permanent Secretary of Government House Umuahia, replaces Dr Mrs Ngozi Queen Obioma who retired meritoriously from service last year.
The ceremony attracted the presence of the Secretary to Abia State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, Permanent Secretaries, top government officials among other notable personalities.
