The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Abia State, Sir Chris Onwuegbu has charged Information Officers in the State to be proactive in their areas of assignment.

Sir Onwuegbu who gave the charge during a meeting he had with Information Officers at the Lobby of the State Ministry of Information, advised them to be more committed and avoid truancy, absenteeism and lateness to duty.

The Permanent Secretary also harped on the need for them to dress decently as Information Managers of the government and reminded them to work in tandem with Governor Alex Otti who is working tirelessly to take the State to the next level of development.

In their remarks, the State Director of Information, Mrs Chika Orji Nwoke and a Senior Information Officer in the Ministry, Mr. Uma Ibem reminded Information Officers of their core mandate of projecting and protecting the image of the State government.

Contributing, some Information Officers including Mrs. Chidimma Obioma and Mrs. Nkechinyere Ekejiuba harped on the need for Information Officers to desist from hoarding information from them to ensure proper information management.

In a vote of thanks, an Information Officer, Chukwunyere Amarachi thanked the Permanent Secretary, Sir Onwuegbu for his fatherly advice and promised that Information Officers will continue to live up to expectations in the discharge of their duties.
