The widows of the Nation’s fallen heroes have advocated for their empowerment and that of their children by various government at all levels in the country.

The widows made the demand at the grand finale of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day held at the Ogurube layout Umuahia.
A widow, Mrs. Esther Enyiazu, wife of late Staff Sergeant Enyiazu who recalled that since the death of her husband who died in active service to the nation leaving the kids for her, life has not been easy for her and her children.
She maintained that giving attention to the families of fallen heroes through empowerment and employment among others, will go a long way in motivating those still in service to give their best, sacrificing for the nation with the firm belief that their families will be adequately taken care of in case of any eventuality.
Also baring their mind, Mrs. Ana Ekwuruke, wife of the late WO1 and widow of Corporal Sampson Onyeji, Mrs. Onyeji Scholarsticker acknowledged the sacrifices of their late husbands in the defence of the nation’s territorial integrity, pointed out that their families should be given attention in terms of support towards the educational pursuits of their children.
They cited the promises made to them by the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, recently and expressed optimism that his administration will give the much needed attention to families of the deceased Soldiers in the state.
Also baring their minds, retired Navy Warrant Officer, Jeremiah Obiefule and Corporal Anselem Chime acknowledged the present Federal Government efforts in the payment of their entitlements and stressed the need for the adequate use of trained military personnel across the country to address some of the security concerns in various formations.
