Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has commended the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun and his men for their support which has led to relative peace being enjoyed in various parts of the state.

Governor Otti who made the commendation when he received in his Nvosi Country home, the Wife of the Inspector General of Police and President of Police Officers’ Wives’ Association (POWA), Dr Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun and members of her delegation who were on a working visit to the state.
The Governor while acknowledging that his administration enjoys a cordial working relationship with the Nigerian Police, promised to continue to work with the Nigerian Police and other sister security agencies in achieving a more secured and peaceful state.
Governor Otti used the forum to announce approval for the request for provision of land for the establishment of skills acquisition centre for the empowerment of police officers’ wives’ and their children.
According to the Governor, his government is in the habit of supporting empowerment that has direct bearing on the lives of the people and promised to support the project in terms of providing manpower if the need arises.
Earlier in her speech, the Wife of the Inspector General of Police and President Police Officers’ Wives’ Association (POWA), Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun appreciated the remarkable progress made by Governor Alex Otti in road infrastructure and economic well-being of the citizens.
Mrs. Egbetokun disclosed that POWA is dedicated to empowering women and children, especially families of fallen police officers, by equipping them with skills that provide lifelong income opportunities and appealed to Governor Otti for assistance in acquiring land for a skill acquisition centre that would provide essential training for Women and Children of fallen heroes.
Our correspondent reports that the visit attracted the presence of the wife of the Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti among other government functionaries while the AIG Zone 9, Mr Suleiman Yusuf, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Danladi Isa among other top Police Officers accompanied the IGP’s wife to the visit.
