In a heartwarming display of compassion and commitment to the welfare of his constituents, the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu (OCHAKE), has fulfilled his promise of building a bungalow for an elderly constituent.
The act of kindness, which comes as part of his ongoing efforts to support his people, has brought immense joy to the recipient, who expressed his deep gratitude.
It will be recalled that last year, the elderly man, Mr Esinwoke (aka Otila Eke) of Abayi Isi-Ngwa Autonomous Community, in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, had reached out to Hon. Iheonunekwu, seeking monetary assistance to carter for his immediate needs. There and then, Ochake gave him some money and promised to visit Mr Esinwoke at his house later in the evening of same day.
It was during the Lawmaker’s visit to Mr Esinwoke’s compound that he found out that the old man was living in a dilapidated mud house with half of the building already carved in.
Understanding the gravity of the situation, the lawmaker made a personal vow to not only respond but to make a lasting impact on the life of his constituent.
In a statement, Hon. Iheonunekwu emphasized that this gesture was in alignment with his covenant with God, which prioritizes the welfare of his people.
The elderly man, visibly overwhelmed by the gesture, thanked Ochake immensely for providing him with a new home.
With tears of happiness in his eyes, he prayed for continued blessings upon Hon. Iheonunekwu, expressing how life-changing the gift has been for him at this stage of his life.
This philanthropic act is not the first of its kind by Hon. Iheonunekwu as he has continued to show a consistent commitment to the well-being of his constituents, addressing various needs ranging from healthcare to education and housing.
