The Abia State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi says the free education initiative of the present administration is designed to ensure Abia Children acquire basic and sound education.

Elder Ubochi who stated this when he led Management of the Ministry on School resumption monitoring, disclosed that the Compulsory Education Crusader Taskforce enforcement set up by the Governor, Dr Alex Otti is to reach out to Parents, Communities and other relevant bodies on the need to encourage out of School Children to return back to School.

The Commissioner represented by the Director Inspectorate of the Ministry, Mrs Ijeoma Joy-Umunna disclosed that Parents and Guardians have no reason not to send their Children or Wards to School, especially now that the Governor, Dr Alex Otti has made education compulsory and free.

He enjoined the Taskforce Team to take the assignment given to them seriously by embarking on massive sensitization on the need for out of School Children and Wards to embrace education.

The Commissioner further expressed satisfaction with the turn out of Teachers, Pupils and Students on the first day of school resumption and advised those who have not reported to school to do so as effective teaching and learning have commenced.

Our Correspondent reports that teachers, pupils and students were seen sweeping and carrying out their academic activities as at 7:30am when the Commissioner’s representative alongside other Management of the Ministry arrived some Schools in Umuahia metropolis.
