The Abia State Government will tomorrow, Thursday, flag off the construction of the Onuinyang-Okporoenyi road section 1 and 2 cutting across Bende and Ikwuano Local Government Areas.

The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu who disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, said that a new bridge is to be constructed around Eziama to provide alternative route for commuters.
Prince Kanu reiterated the state government’s commitment to honoring all terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last week with the State Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
The Commissioner for Information while recalling that the MOU followed an agreement reached between the State Government and JUSUN to suspend their industrial action, disclosed that all necessary paperwork for the payments of arrears for the judicial workers is being finalized and expressed the hope that members of the Union would start receiving alerts soon.
The Information Boss while attributing the delay in payment to the paperwork involved in processing the large sums involved, explained that the ongoing judicial reforms, including construction of new digital court buildings across the seventeen Local Government Areas, regular payment of salaries and digitizing the Judicial system for quick dispensation of justice are all geared towards making the Abia Judiciary system 21st-century compliant.
Also speaking, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, noted that all areas of concern as raised by the Union in the new minimum wage have been taken care, adding that Judicial staff are expected to start receiving their salaries to give room for the industrial action to be called off.
Barr. Uwanna said that all paper works and other arrangements delaying the formal commencement of the Construction of the new Enyimba International Hotel Aba have been sorted out culminating in the planned signing of MOU with the investor on the 9th of next month.
Also speaking on the construction of the Enyimba International Hotel Aba which would be consummated through the signing of MOU by the Radisson Blu, an international investor in the hospitality industry, the General Manager, Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA) Mr Uche Ukeje disclosed that plans are in top gear to establish Mega Leisure Park and other parks being considered in Aba and Umuahia.
Mr. Ukeje revealed that a two thousand, five hundred seating capacity International Conference Centre with provisions for another one thousand, five hundred and one thousand seater Halls would soon spring up in Aba courtesy of the state government.
He noted that discussions are on to close down illegal markets in Aba and its environs , pointing out that there are also ongoing discussions with landlords in Aba to turn sanitary lanes already converted to shops into green areas.
