Members of the Abia State Harmonized Taskforce have intensified efforts in enforcing the State Government’s ban on Street Trading in Aba, the Commercial Nerve Center of the State.

Our Aba Zonal Correspondent, who visited some Street trading prone areas in Aba especially the Hospital road, Asa road, St. Michael’s road, Ehi road, Park road, Okpu Umuobo road among other areas, reports that Members of the Abia State Harmonized Taskforce have cleared the areas of Street trading activities as well as removed all their illegal structures.

In an interview, some of the Commercial Motor Drivers including Mr. Boniface Okereke, Mr. Otu Madu and Mr Onyenaobi, thanked the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti for his efforts in ridding Aba of Street traders.

According to the commercial road transporters, many street traders have fallen victims of road mishaps while they caused nuisance in many places they operate including blocking of the main roads.

The commercial road transporters however appealed to the State Government to look for an alternative places to relocate the displaced street traders to enable them cushion the effects of hardship in the Country.

Some of the Street traders including Mrs. Chizoba Nwangwa, and Madam Obioma said that they make their daily living through Street trading since they cannot afford to rent shops due to high cost of living in the country and appealed to the State Government to relocate them to an affordable places they can trade to make a living.
