Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has expressed his administration’s readiness to implement policies that will help protect the mangroves in the state.

Dr. Otti stated this during a visit by the Director General, National Council on Climate Change Secretariat, NCCC, Dr. Nkeiruka Maduekwe and her team in his office.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, emphasized the need for proper management of our forests through healthy Agricultural activities in our environments.
Governor. Otti also thanked the Director General and her team for promising to support the state in reviewing its climate change policy as well as implementing the climate change law.
In his address, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna, noted that the state is ranked 8th in the climate change mitigation issues and thanked the Governor, Dr. Otti for sponsoring the state in the global conference last year.
In her remarks, the Director General, NCCC, Dr. Nkeiruka Maduekwe, explained that their visit to the Niger Delta regions of the country is aimed at driving the restoration, conservation and protection of the mangroves and semi-mangroves in the states adding that the key thing in adopting the climate change law is to operationalize the climate change fund.
