The Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon. Chiemela Iheanacho Wagbara has commended the Abia State Government for initiating and flagging-off the three months training program with the theme, “Tech Right”, which aims at igniting digital excellence in Abia.

Hon. Wagbara who made the commendation while interacting with Newsmen in Ugwunagbo LGA Council Headquarters, disclosed that the program which is organized by the State Government and the 17 Local Government Chairmen in Collaboration with Learn Factory Industry, focuses on empowering 510 Abia Youths through advanced digital skills and knowledge of technology.

The Ugwunagbo Council Boss applauded Governor Alex Otti for his commitment towards empowering Abia youths through technological advancement to become better citizens in society, and enjoined Ugwunagbo participants to make use of the rare opportunity provided for them by the State Government to acquire the technical skills and knowledge on technology advancement.

It will be recalled that the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzo Nwachukwu had in his speech while flagging-off the program in Umuahia, disclosed that adequate provisions have been made to ensure the smooth take off of the program and advised the participants to take the training exercise seriously.

Also speaking during the event, the Mayor of Umunneochi Local Government Area, Mr Sunday Afuruobi and the Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Ms. Ure Abazie said that Governor Alex Otti approved three centers including Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia Local Government Area to ensure the youths acquire digital skills on technology advancement to become self reliant as well as train others.

In his address, the MD of Learn Factory, Mr Chibueze Ukaegbu said the idea is to ensure Abia youths have access to digital skills and knowledge on technology, solve problems and support the digital economy hub of the State Government as well as enhance IGR of the State.

In an interview, some of the Participants including the Chairman, Persons Living with disabilities Umuahia South Chapter, Elder Iroabuchi Alozie and Nkwachi Promise described the training program as a welcome development and expressed gratitude to the State Government for the opportunity to acquire the skill and promised to utilize the knowledge gained in the training program positively.
