The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Abia State, Sir Chris Onwuegbu, has commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for his administration’s commitment in partnering relevant bodies to enhance all sectors of the State economy.

Sir Onwuegbu who disclosed this when he received the Zonal Consultant, Center for Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions(C-WINS), Dr Nneka Onwu, who was in the State for Measles/Rubella Virus Campaign, described the advocacy visit as apt adding, that the gesture is in line with the present administration’s commitment to improving the healthcare needs and living standards of the people.
He further described measles and rubella viruses as deadly and harmful to new born and children and assured Dr Onwu that the Ministry will partner the Primary Health Care Development Agency, among other relevant bodies, to sensitize the public especially, nursing mothers on the two deadly viruses and the need to take precautionary measures.
According to the Sir Onwuegbu, a healthy citizenry is a wealthy citizenry and the current administration under the visionary leadership of the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, is intentioal at improving the living standards of the people in fulfillment of his promises during the last election.
In her address, the Zonal Consultant Centre For Well-being and Integrated Nutrition Solutions, Dr Nneka Onwu said that the essence of the visit was to collaborate the Ministry of Information and other line Ministries to strengthen support and advocacy on measles and rubella vaccine immunization for Children between 0 and 15 years in the State.
Dr Onwu said the advocacy is to enlighten the public on the deadly rubella virus which the vaccine will be introduced in the country towards the end of the year and commended the wife of the Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti, for her relentless efforts in championing the fight against the viruses adding that Abia came first among the five Eastern States in a recent survey by her organization on the use of public health facilities.
