The Donko Care Foundation has reaffirmed its dedication to fostering community unity in Aba through the power of sports.

At the opening of the Foundation’s Inter-Village Football Competition, held at the Etche Road field in Aba, the Foundation’s Chairman, Mr. Roseson Obasi (Donko), emphasized the event’s focus on uniting local communities, adding that the competition wasn’t centered on prize and money, but on bringing diverse communities together, fostering unity, and building stronger relationships.

Mr. Donko while noting that the goal is to reduce unnecessary rivalries and unhealthy competition between villages, reiterated that the competition would showcase Aba’s unique diversity and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as encourage peaceful coexistence and identify talented youths who could represent their communities as ambassadors through sports.

In his remarks, the Special Guest of Honour and Member representing Ohafia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mandela Obasi, represented by his Legislative Assistant, Mr. Dimgba Ejieke, while lauding the Foundation’s efforts, called for more support and investment in the sporting sector which he described as a powerful tool for self-employment, family upliftment, and poverty reduction.
