Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has charged the Chairman and Commissioners in Abia State Independent Electoral Commission ABSIEC to remain focused and committed to their core mandate in order to ensure sustainable democracy in the third tier of government.

Governor Otti who gave the charge at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Amuha in Isiala Ngwa South LGA during the thanksgiving service of a commissioner in ABSIEC, MasterGuide Bertha Ehumadu, reminded them that they were appointed to bring about positive changes and regain the confidence of Abians.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba commended the celebrant for her tireless efforts in advancing the commission with exceptional motherly role and administrative skills which made a significant impact in the success of the last Local Government Election in the state.
The State Chief Executive while describing the leadership trajectory of Bertha Ehumadu as her antecedents of uprightness, boldness, honesty, organizational ability, team spirit and godliness, noted that her appointment is well deserved recognition of her unwavering dedication to the development of the state.
In a homily titled, “Flourishing in Every Season,” the Executive Secretary, Eastern Nigeria Union Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Onyebuchi Opara encouraged Christians to ensure that their hope and faith is deeply rooted in Christ, adding that those that are rooted in God do not wither but renews their strength always.
In her testimony, the celebrant and Commissioner in Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, Bertha Ehumadu appreciated God for his divine mercies, providence and blessings upon her as well as thanked Governor Alex Otti for finding her worthy to serve as a commissioner in the state electoral commission.
Our correspondent reports that the event which featured goodwill messages, prayer for the celebrant, cutting of thanksgiving cake, choral renditions also attracted the presence of the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi, his Trade and Commerce counterpart, Elder Kingsley Nwokocha, the first Deputy Chairman, Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Nelson Nmerengwa, LGA Mayors, State Labour Party Chairman, ABSIEC Commissioners and staff, the clergy among other notable personalities.
