Abia State Government has promised to critically examine all documents including maps, and court judgements, to ascertain the true owners of any disputed area in the state.

The Deputy Governor, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, stated this in his office during a meeting for the submission of relevant documents to support claims on the sector under dispute by Lodu Ndume Community, Umuahia North, Olokoro Community, Umuahia South and Amaba Oboro in Ikwuano Local Government Area.
Chief Emetu who solicited for full co-operation of the members of the disputed areas for peaceful resolution, also noted that any disputed area without proper documentation, that members of the community fails to agree with government resolutions will be taken by the state.
The Deputy Governor charged the Traditional Rulers to control their subjects and thanked them for their cooperation in providing the necessary documents to assist the government for a peaceful resolution.
In their separate speeches, the Traditional Ruler of Amaba Community, Eze Emmanuel Otuwa, the Secretary General of Oboro Clan Welfare Association, Sir Kingsley Nkume, as well as the Traditional Ruler of Olokoro Community, Eze Linus Onuoha, explained that the land dispute has lingered over the years due to misrepresentation of the Communities.
Contributing, the Traditional Ruler of Lodu Ndume Community, Eze Donatus Aguiyi, while noting that the particular area under contention between Lodu Ndume and Amaba Oboro is Nkufe Mmiri and Awom Obaza also pleaded for amicable resolution of the land dispute.
Our correspondent reports that top government officials including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Chijioke Nwankwo, leaders from the communities among others were present during the meeting.
