Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has handed over 24 brand-new Roxettes vans to members of the State House of Assembly to support their oversight responsibilities.

During the official handover of the vehicle keys to the Speaker of the 8th State House of Assembly, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa, Governor Otti reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promise of providing lawmakers with operational vehicles.

Highlighting the importance of local production, the Governor emphasized that the vans were manufactured in Nigeria as part of his administration’s policy to support indigenous industries. He noted that the manufacturer, an Abia native from Umunneochi LGA, is in the process of establishing a factory in Obuaku, Ukwa West LGA, with the access road to the facility nearing completion.

Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving the quality of locally made products and fostering confidence among indigenous manufacturers. He further disclosed that the state government is actively supporting local manufacturers to enhance product standards for export. As part of this initiative, he announced ongoing efforts to establish an Export Growth Lab in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Augustine Okezie, expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the vehicles. He acknowledged that this was the second set of vehicles provided to the 8th House of Assembly, underscoring the Governor’s commitment to equipping them for effective service.

Chief Okezie also commended Governor Otti’s leadership style, which, he said, has fostered unity within the House. He emphasized that all members, regardless of political affiliation, are aligned with the Governor’s developmental vision for the state.
