The Abia State government has commenced cutting of traces for reduction of the land size of the proposed Abia Airport Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North LGA.

Speaking at Ikputu Nsulu, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Housing and coordinator of the Airport Project, Pastor Okorougo Aji, said the exercise is in line with the approval made by Governor Alex Otti for a further reduction of the airport land size from 1,325 hectares to 1,025 hectares.
Pastor Aji commended Governor Otti for his magnanimity and administrative ingenuity, and enjoined members of the airport technical sub-committee to work with government to reconfirm the land reduction as well as urged land owners to ensure that all their landed property and economic trees are enumerated for payment of adequate compensation.
He assured that the 300 hectares to be reduced which kickstarted from Ikputu-Umuezeukwu Nsulu axis will go round the host communities to enable the people who are predominantly subsistence farmers continue to sustain their source of livelihood.
