Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Leaders across the country to emulate the sterling leadership style of Governor Alex Otti which has placed Abia on the global map.

Former President Jonathan, an Alumnus of the University of Port Harcourt gave the advice during the Reunion Dinner and Award ceremony of the University of Port Harcourt Class 80s held at the International Conference center Umuahia on the Theme:”Celebrating Excellence and Service to Humanity”.
Dr Jonathan who was represented by Ambassador Godknows Igali said the glaring achievements of Governor Alex Otti in a short period as Governor speaks volume of his level of preparedness before coming into Government.
The Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Igali commended the Alumni of the University for their impact on the political and socio-economic development of the country as they stand as the only Institution that has produced six Governors, President and Vice President.
The State Governor, Dr Alex Otti while thanking members of the Alumni Class 80s for the choice of Abia for the reunion meeting after 12 years when they had their first meeting in Port Harcourt under the then Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Governor Otti encouraged his fellow Alumni to identify with politics to enable them impact on the larger society and informed the visitors who used the period to tour some Project Sites in the State that they would be taken round the 200 Primary Health Centers and 221 Schools currently undergoing renovation, upgrading, remodeling and retrofitting in selected Wards across the State in their next visits.
The Vice Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari Georgewill commended Governor Otti for his giant strides in various Sectors of the State Economy as well as his intervention in building the Faculty of Social Sciences among other intervention in the University.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Steering Committee of UNIPORT 80’s Reunion, Mr. Benjamin Owuapu Willie said that the University of PortHarcourt 80’s Reunion came to existence following the loss of one of their brightest, Mr. Eze Alomefuna, a first-class graduate who died in 2019.
Our correspondent that the ceremony which featured presentation of Excellence and Service to Humanity awards to selected Members of the Alumni was attended by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, former Governor of Rivers State, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku among other dignitaries.
