Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has identified productivity as one of the hallmarks of transformational leadership.

Governor Otti who disclosed this at the St. Mary’s Church, Mbutu-Ukwu in Isiala Ngwa South LGA during the first session of the sixth synod of the church, noted that his administration is laying a solid foundation that every Abian will be proud of.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, while describing the theme of the synod, “Transformational Leadership: A Panacea for Total Development,” as apt, reiterated that his administration is thinking more creatively to be visionary in what is being done in Abia and to ensure that funds are spent only on productive purposes.

The State Chief Executive while describing education as key to achieving transformational leadership in society, noted that his administration allocated 20 percent of the 2025 budget to education and called on agencies and religious organizations that cannot run their schools effectively to return them back to government.

According to the Governor, his administration has provided a platform and opportunity where Abia youths are trained and empowered in different ICT skills in line with the demands of the 21st century digital age in order to enhance their productivity, and thanked the church for their sustained show of love, prayers and support towards his administration.

In a homily, the Bishop of the Diocese of Ndokwa, The Rt. Rev Festus Nwafili, described transformational leaders as those who have the capacity to translate their visions and thoughts into reality and harped on the need for all to rise up to the challenge and become transformational leaders in order to achieve total development of society.

In his welcome address earlier, the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Aba and Bishop of Isiala Ngwa South, His Grace, The Most Rev. Isaac Nwaobia, explained that the synod affords them the opportunity to listen to each other, prayerfully consider the challenges and opportunities before them and strengthen the bonds that unite them as the body of Christ.

He noted that transformational leadership is about inspiring others to transcend their limitations, embrace a higher vision and actively pursue the common good as aligned with God’s kingdom and commended Governor Otti for his visionary style of leadership in the state.
