Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has commended churches especially the Catholic Diocese of Aba, for the steadfast support, prayers, and constructive engagement they have extended to his administration since inception.

Governor Otti who gave the commendation at the S.S Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Umuode Ikenna Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North LGA during the feast of S.S Peter and Paul and first Pastoral visit of the Catholic Bishop of Aba, His Lordship, Most Rev Prof. Augustine Echema to the church, noted that their encouragement and spiritual guidance have been instrumental in sustaining his administration’s resolve to reposition Abia on the path of righteousness, good governance, and people-oriented development.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba explained that the feast reminds christians of the unwavering faith and sacrifice of the early apostles, which has continued to inspire both the church and leadership across the world.

The State Chief Executive called on all to reflect on the lives and missions of Saints Peter and Paul, draw strength from their boldness, dedication, and commitment to truth while urging the Church to continue to uphold the State in prayers, speak truth with love, and guide the conscience of society.

He further disclosed that under his watch, Abia is undergoing a quiet but impactful transformation from massive road constructions and urban renewal in Aba and Umuahia, to improved healthcare delivery, education reforms, civil service sanitization, and efforts to ensure security and economic revitalization, adding that his administration remains committed to restoring the dignity of Abians.

In a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Aba Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Prof. Augustine Echema while commending Governor Otti’s transformative strides across the state, stressed the need for all to take the issue of security more seriously as well as remain steadfast in their journey of faith.

The event which featured Holy Confirmation of Sacrament also attracted the presence of the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Ambassador Innocent Uruakpa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Commerce, Chief Nwaka Inem among other notable personalities.
