Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has charged the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC) to monitor revenue allocations given to various states and agencies of government to ensure judicious use.

Governor Otti who gave the charge in Government House Umuahia while receiving in audience a delegation of the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, stressed the need for the nation to come up with a framework that will enable people monitor what is being given to them.

Gov Otti Urges RMFAC to Ensure Transparency in Allocation Monitoring, Reaffirms Financial Discipline in Abia

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba disclosed that his administration understands how to manage money, adding that what is being done in Abia today is as a result of financial discipline the government deploys.

The State Chief Executive further explained that Abia has demonstrated that they know how to manage resources, adding that before now, Abia workers were being owed but within 2 years in office, his administration has cleared all the salary arrears, fixed many roads including the long abandoned Port Harcourt Road Aba, retrofitted hospitals as well as renovated schools.

He congratulated Mrs. Nkechi Oti on her appointment as the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the RMFAC and urged her to represent the state well.

In her speech earlier, the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Moblization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Mrs. Nkechi Oti said she was in the State for a familiarization visit having been appointed into office few months ago.

Mrs Oti disclosed that she is proud that Governor Alex Otti is making judicious use of the federal allocation funds in the state and assured him of her readiness to work as a team with the State Government.

The Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu among other government officials were present during the visit.
