Abia state Governor, Dr Alex Otti says his administration has remained focused in the past 2 years changing the narratives and restoring the dignity of Abia people.

Governor Otti stated this while addressing a delegation of the “Igbo Leaders of Thought” led by its Chairman, Professor Elochukwu Amuchiazi who were on a fact finding visit at his Nvosi country home.

The Governor said that though, everyone claims to be a politician seeking power to serve the people, thanked God that the people are now wise in asking questions on what those seeking power have to offer.

Responding to issues of security in the South East as raised by the group, Governor Otti disclosed that his administration has been doing a lot in that regard, pointing out that the Abia state Security Trust Fund launched on Thursday 10th July 2025 was intended to raise enough funds to combat crime and keep Abia safer and secured.

The State Chief Executive noted that a lot of progress has been recorded in the fight against crime across the state, adding that he has taken giant moves towards job creation, instituting conducive business environment among others as a responsive step towards achieving a crime free society.

He further thanked the group for their relentless efforts in championing the Igbo project and urged them to make their wealth of knowledge available for the services of the Igbo nation.

Earlier in his speech, the leader of the Delegation, Professor Elochukwu Amuchiazi said that the group is making a case for the Igbo project where the Igbo man would be integrated into the Nigeria nation and allowed to live and actualize his dreams comfortably.

He explained that the visit was to discuss with Governor Otti on what he is doing to protect the Igbo interest and commended his giant strides and welfare-oriented leadership towards a better Abia.

Also speaking, one of the members of the group, Professor Obasi Igwe while appreciating Governor Otti for the ongoing building of the Abia Airport City, said that their overall interest is to achieve a functional seaport linking South East to the Atlantic Ocean to open the region to greater economic opportunities.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to the federal government to support and fund the dredging of the Imo River down to the coast through Opobo, a seaport founded by the Igbos.

The Secretary to Abia State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba among other top government officials were present during the visit.
