Abia born Entrepreneur and Philanthropist from Ndi Oji-Abam in Arochukwu LGA, Dr Anderson Okoro, has empowered Forty (40) Abia Arise rice farmers in Ovukwu Abam with Fifty Thousand Naira each through the “Chief Dr Anderson Okoro Agriculture Empowerment Scheme”.

Presenting the Cash support to the Forty Abia Arise rice farmers at Ovukwu Central School, Ndi-Oji Abam, Dr Okoro said he sponsored the empowerment program in appreciation and support to the good work of Governor Alex Otti especially for reconstructing the Ozu-Abam – Ndi Oji Abam – Arochukwu road and to boost food production in the state.
He also commended the pillar of development in Abam Onyerubi, Chief James Ume for extending Developmental projects in all parts of Abam clan, assuring that he will continue to support the Abia Arise Movement for ushering in good governance in the state and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money to help themselves.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Occasion and General Manager, Abia Newspaper and Publishing Company, Chief Jones Nnanna-Ike, the state Chairman of Abia Arise, Mazi Nkem Okoro and the the Labour Party Chairman of Arochukwu LGA, Chief Godswill Onuoha, expressed happiness that Abians are now aligning themselves with the people centric government of Governor Alex Otti by coming back to the state to invest and applauded Dr Anderson Okoro for coming to empower his people.
In their remarks, the Councillor representing Ovukwu Ward, Mr Ikeogu Okpi, Abia Arise Coordinator Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Machi Okoro, the Secretary Abia Arise Arochukwu LGA, Chief Orji Kalu Okorie, a son of the community, Paul Iro Awa and the Woman Leader Ndi-Oji Abam, Mrs Grace Agwu thanked Dr Anderson Okoro for remembering his people and assured that anybody following Governor Alex Otti will never go astray.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Coordinator of “Chief Dr Anderson Okoro Agriculture Empowerment Scheme” Agwu Chika Uda, said the Forty Abia Arise Rice Farmers were selected from different communities in Ovukwu Abam Community based on merit, after conducting field inspection of their rice farms and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the money to boost their rice farming and increase rice production in the state.
Expressing their gratitude, some of the beneficiaries including Eke Ben from Ndi-Oji Abam and Kalu Eke Olaka from Atan-Abam, thanked Dr Anderson Okoro for coming to empower them promising to make judicious use of the money and prayed God to reward him.
The Empowerment Scheme featured speeches from prominent Abians including a political Stakeholder from Abam Onyerubi, Mr David Ukpabi, Ndi Ezeogo Abam, among others.
