The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Abia State, Mr Kingsley Nwokocha, has restated the state government’s commitment in building an enabling environment that supports trade and commerce across the State.

Mr Nwokocha who stated this at Amakama Primary School field in Umuahia South LGA while declaring open a three day Trade Fair, organized by Amakama Estate Vendors in partnership with the state Ministry of Trade and Commerce, disclosed that the administration of Governor Alex Otti has continued to prioritize economic reforms, infrastructure development, and policies that encourage industrialization and support small and medium-scale enterprises.

The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Pastor Jane Maxwell-Igwe, said the trade fair stands as a testament to the present administration’s resolve to empower local businesses, attract investment, and make Abia the commercial hub of the South-East and beyond.

He further commended the host, Mrs Nancy James, the organizers, exhibitors, and participants whose hard work has made the fair possible and urged entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the opportunity, not only to sell products but to build sustainable relationships that will outlive the fair.

In her address, the host of the trade fair, Mrs Nancy James, while describing the event tagged, “Goal Getter’s Mega Discount Sales” which has over forty verified Umuahia Vendors as participants as timely, disclosed that the trade fair is not just a gathering of buyers and sellers, but a celebration of creativity, innovation, and enterprise.

She maintained that the maiden edition provides a unique platform where local producers, artisans, and investors showcase their goods and services, network, explore opportunities for collaboration and growth and encouraged the business community to embrace innovation, technology, and international best practices to enable them compete favorably in regional and global markets.

In their speeches, some of the vendors including Chinenye Okwudiri, Sandra Hyacinth, Samuel Marvellous and Ijeoma Chikezie, thanked the organizers of the trade fair and expressed optimism that the event will open new doors of opportunities for traders, boost economic growth as well as position Abia as a land of boundless possibilities.

High point of the event was the inspection of goods sampled at the various vendor stands by the commissioner’s representative.
