Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has commended the Mayor of Ukwa West Local Government Area, Pastor Dike Nwankwo, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to grassroots transformation.

Governor Otti who gave the commendation during the groundbreaking ceremony of Asa Multi-Purpose Plaza, a landmark legacy project for the people of Ukwa West undertaken by the LGA Mayor, Pastor Dike Nwankwo, described the project as a practical expression of responsive leadership and a step forward in strengthening local economic and social infrastructure.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, while emphasizing that the project aligns with his administration’s broader mission of fostering inclusive development across all local governments in the State, noted that the Asa Multi-Purpose Plaza, when completed, will not only serve as a vibrant center for business, empowerment and civic engagements but will also enhance the cultural and social life of Asa community.

The State Chief Executive further used the opportunity to call on Abians who have attained the voting age, those who have misplaced their voters cards or changed their residence to visit the nearest INEC registration centers to register, update their information, or collect their PVCs.

In his welcome address, the Mayor of Ukwa West LGA, Pastor Dike Nwankwo, while appreciating Governor Alex Otti for his transformational leadership, explained that the Asa Multi-Purpose Plaza is conceived as a long-term investment in community growth and a modern facility that will serve as a hub for trade, skills development and public engagement.

He also urged the indigenes and residents of Ukwa West LGA to continue supporting the New Abia vision under Governor Otti’s leadership, pledging his administration’s commitment to transparency, service delivery and people-focused governance.

In his speech, the Project Engineer, Mr Samuel Chukwuma, described the Asa Multi-Purpose Plaza which has over 140 lock-up shops with convenience and borehole to service the facility as a milestone project that will redefine the economic and social landscape of Ukwa West, enjoined the people to give their full cooperation to ensure its timely completion and sustainability.

In their goodwill messages, some of the stakeholders from Ukwa West LGA including a former Commissioner for Petroleum, Sir Stanley Etche, Chief Harcourt Enwereji and the traditional ruler of obehie community, Eze Ndubuisi Ogbuji, lauded Governor Alex Otti and Mayor Dike Nwankwo for their shared commitment to development and empowerment at the grassroots.

The event which featured the foundation laying ceremony of the Plaza by the Governor’s representative, attracted the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Ukwa West LGA, Pastor John Nwankwo, Members of Ukwa West Legislative Council among other distinguished personalities.
