In a remarkable step towards improving access to clean water, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Collins Ugochukwu Iheonunekwu (popularly known as Ochake), has commenced the construction and installation of a solar-powered borehole at Ichi Community in Umuha, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

The project, which is already underway, fulfills his earlier promise to the people of the area and is expected to be completed in no distant time.
Speaking on the project, Hon. Iheonunekwu reaffirmed his commitment to the overall development of his constituency, noting that access to clean and safe water remains a fundamental necessity for healthy living and community growth.
According to him, the solar-powered facility will not only provide a steady 24-hour water supply to Ichi residents but will also reduce the stress of fetching water from distant and unsafe sources, particularly for women and children.
The State lawmaker noted that water is a vital part of life and a key factor in maintaining public health, agricultural productivity and social well-being, adding that his decision to invest in sustainable, solar-powered technology aligns with global best practices for rural development and environmental sustainability, ensuring that the people of Ichi enjoy clean water without the burden of high energy costs.
He further assured that similar people-oriented projects would continue to spread across communities in his constituency as part of his resolve to uplift living standards and deliver practical dividends of democracy, while commending the people of Ichi for their patience and support, urging them to protect and maintain the project once completed for the collective benefit of all.
