ABIA – Governor Alex Otti, has restated his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Christian community to advance peace, moral development and social welfare across the state.
Speaking during the first General Assembly of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Abia State Chapter, held at the St. Finbarrs Catholic Church, Bende Road Umuahia, Governor Otti appreciated the pivotal role of the Church in promoting unity and supporting government policies that enhance the wellbeing of citizens.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, noted that faith-based organisations have continued to complement government efforts in education, healthcare and humanitarian services, adding that Abia’s growth would be strengthened through shared values and collective responsibility.
The state Chief Executive while highlighting the strides his administration has made in infrastructure renewal, economic reforms and social support systems, disclosed that these initiatives are rooted in the vision of building a just and prosperous state for all.
While commending CAN for its leadership and contributions to social harmony, Governor Otti called for continued prayers and collaboration as the government accelerates development programmes across the state, urging the Church to continue to use its platform to promote dialogue, discourage divisive tendencies and support initiatives that address poverty and moral decline.
In his address earlier, the state CAN chairman, Rev. Ojo Ojo Uduma, while applauding Governor Otti for his transformational governance, reaffirmed their continued support and prayers for the State as well as solicited governments support especially in taking full sponsorship of the annual New Year Thanksgiving Service/Rededication of the state to God, building of an ecumenical centre for the Christian Community in the state among others.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Apostle Kenneth Wiper accompanied the Governor’s representative to the event.
