ABIA – Governor Alex Otti, has stated the willingness of the present administration to partner the Kingdom of Denmark in the areas of Digital transformation, Agriculture, Healthcare, Maritime, MSMEs, Climate and Sustainability.

Gov Otti Welcomes Danish Delegation, Sets Stage for Strategic Development Collaboration

Governor Otti who stated this when he received a delegation of the Consul General of the Kingdom of Denmark led by Mrs. Jette Bjerrum at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, noted that many of the points raised by the Consul General aligned with the ongoing reforms in the State.

The Governor assured the delegation that the State would begin implementation of agreed areas of partnership before the end of the year and directed officials of his administration to immediately begin preliminary work and directed that a workshop would hold in the first month of the New Year to crystallize the implementation framework as proposed by the Danish delegation.

The State Chief Executive, who disclosed that the State has invested heavily in developing a data-driven system for agriculture and governance, also informed the delegation that his administration has consistently dedicated fifteen percent of its annual budget to health and twenty percent to education respectively and highlighted other progress made in both sectors within the period under review.

The Governor who also urged the delegation to make out time and visit Aba to see the creativity of local Artisans and Small Businesses, described the City as the capital of MSMEs in Nigeria and expressed readiness to partner Denmark to ensure the realization of the Seaport Project.

Earlier, the Consul General, Mrs. Jette Bjerrum, expressed Denmark’s commitment to partner the State and unveiled areas of possible collaboration at the National and State levels.

Mrs. Bjerrum while revealing that her visit to the State is to build trust and explore pragmatic partnerships that deliver tangible results in a short time frame, and identified food and agriculture as a priorities, also enumerated Denmark’s long-standing investments along the value chain to include farm production to retail and consumption, digital transformation, achieving socio-economic development, support data-driven Initiatives across public, private, and civic sectors, enhancing efficiency and innovation at the sub-national level.
