The Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Mr Nnadozie Nwaogwugwu, has officially presented a Toyota Sienna patrol vehicle, five brand new motorcycles and other vital security gadgets to the Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante.

The presentation took place at Omoba, the Council Headquarters, where the Mayor handed over the patrol vehicle and other security tools to the State Commander of the Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme.

Speaking at the event, Mr Nwaogwugwu said the intervention was aimed at complementing the commitment of Governor Alex Otti to ensuring adequate protection of lives and property before, during and after the yuletide season. He described Governor Otti as a proactive and security-conscious leader whose people-centred policies have continued to inspire purposeful governance at all levels.

The Isiala Ngwa South Council Boss while emphasizing that security remains the bedrock of sustainable development, noted that no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. According to him, the safety of residents of Isiala Ngwa South remains a top priority of his administration.

Mr Nwaogwugwu further commended Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme and officers of the Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante for their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding communities, especially in rural areas. He urged them to make optimal use of the vehicles and equipment provided, while sustaining professionalism, discipline and synergy with other security agencies in the discharge of their duties.

Responding, the State Commander of Abia State Community Policing and Vigilante, Apostle Daniel Iheadindueme, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for his unwavering support to community-based security initiatives across the state, which he said has significantly strengthened grassroots security operations.

He also appreciated the Mayor of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Mr Nnadozie Nwaogwugwu, for his foresight, commitment and practical support towards enhancing the operational capacity of the outfit. Apostle Iheadindueme assured that the patrol vehicle, motorcycles and other security tools would be judiciously deployed to improve response time and ensure safer communities.

The State Commander further called on other Local Government Mayors across Abia State to emulate their Isiala Ngwa South LGA Counterpart by supporting the Community Policing and Vigilante with operational vehicles and equipment, to enable them discharge their responsibilities more effectively in line with the state government’s security vision.

Representatives from the Army, Police, Department of State Services were present during the handover ceremony.
