UMUAHIA – The Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has described the achievements recorded across the state under the administration of Governor Alex Otti as the product of discipline, endurance and collective sacrifice.

Pastor Ajagba who disclosed this at Government House Umuahia during the End-of-the-year-get-together organized by the Government House Staff Welfare Scheme, likened governance to a championship journey that demands rigorous training and patience before victory is achieved.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor while highlighting the visible improvements in road infrastructure, schools, healthcare and overall governance, noted that the present administration in the state has reversed the negative narratives previously associated with Abia as investors, multilateral agencies and embassies are now coming into the state voluntarily.

He commended Governor Otti for restoring certainty in the payment of workers’ salaries, explaining that the assurance of timely alerts by the 27th or 28th of every month has enabled workers to plan their lives effectively, and urged Government House staff to continue to embrace professionalism and digital technology in the discharge of their duties.

Pastor Ajagba further encouraged them to remain committed and supportive as the state approaches 2026, emphasizing that the story of Abia’s renewed glory cannot be told without recognising the dedication and contributions of workers who have stood firm throughout the reform process.

In her remarks, the Director in-charge of Government House, Umuahia, Mrs Onyedikachi Ogwo, lauded Governor Alex Otti for prioritising staff welfare and creating a conducive working environment.

She described the end-of-year gathering as a morale booster for workers, assuring that the management of Government House will continue to support initiatives that promote unity, productivity and the wellbeing of staff.

In his opening speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr Okechi Ubani, commended the State Government for its people-oriented policies, especially the consistency in salary payments and infrastructural renewal, which he said have restored dignity to public service and renewed hope among workers. He also applauded the Staff Welfare Scheme for sustaining a culture of togetherness among Government House employees.

In her welcome address earlier, the Chairman, Government House Staff Welfare Scheme, Mrs Benedict Oluchi-Ubani, thanked Governor Otti for his unwavering support to staff welfare, adding that the end-of-year get-together was organised to appreciate the workers for their dedication throughout the year and to strengthen bonds among staff.

The event which featured thanksgiving prayers, goodwill messages, choral renditions and dance, also attracted the presence of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Apostle Kenneth Wiper, Management of Government House Umuahia among other top government officials.
