ABIA – Governor Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, non-discrimination and shared prosperity.

Governor Otti who disclosed this when he received a joint delegation of the Hausa and Yoruba Communities in Aba led by the Sarki of Aba, Sarki Shehu Bello the II and Pastor Basorun Adedeji, at Government House Umuahia, described Abia as a home for all who live and do business in the state, irrespective of tribe or religion.

The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, commended the consistency and leadership of the Hausa and Yoruba community heads in Aba, noting that he is a detribalised leader whose policies deliberately break ethnic and religious barriers.

The State Chief Executive disclosed that appointments and opportunities under his administration are based on competence and excellence, citing the appointment of a non-indigene as Head of Service as a clear departure from past practices.

Governor Otti maintained that the major strides his administration has recorded since May 2023, have revived economic activities, opened up mobility, attracted investors and turned Aba into a bustling commercial hub once again.

He further urged them to see Abia as their own state, obey laws, contribute positively to development, continue supporting his administration’s vision and ensure they register and obtain their permanent voter cards in the ongoing national voter cards registration exercise across the state.

In his speech, the Mayor of Aba South LGA, Hon. Obilor Anyanwu, described the current transformation across the state as the product of purposeful leadership and collective responsibility, adding that Abia’s renewed progress has continued to draw the attention of multinational organisations, embassies and investors.

In his address, the Sarki of Aba, Sarki Shehu Bello the II, commended Governor Alex Otti for fostering an atmosphere where Abians by residence are treated with the same dignity and respect as Abians by birth and also lauded him for his massive infrastructural strides, quality power supply and proper waste management which have restored the Enyimba City as truly the commercial nerve centre of the state.

He disclosed that they came to show solidarity to the Governor based on his outstanding leadership performance within the last two years in office and to assure him of their unalloyed support towards his people centered administration.

In a vote of thanks, the President of the Yoruba Community in Aba, Pastor Basorun Adedeji, described Governor Otti as God-sent to salvage the ruins of past maladministration and prayed for more of God’s wisdom and strength upon him.
